Sayonara LWS Media

It’s been a rough night last Friday when our whole rank and file received notices that LWS Media is finally going under and will cease operations at the end of October 2011.

The last ~8 months I have been with LWS Media have been fun and I got to work on really interesting projects like PCI DSS compliance, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, servers consolidation using kvm, infrastructure monitoring setup (nagios, cacti, munin), Squid proxy, Openfire and server migrations from old systems to new. We’ve also started looking at Metasploit and OpenStack but I guess we’ll be scaling that down to start with the shutdown process.

The saddest part for me is letting go of the systems we’ve worked so hard to put up and the team I’m just beginning to build up. At the end of the day, it’s a business decision and we all have to abide by it. I wish all my friends at LWS Media well in their search for a new job going into the holidays.

As for me, it’s going to be business as usual until October 31st after which I’ll be attending FUDCon India on a severance pay a really tight budget. Exciting but uncertain times up ahead.
