No classes in Metro Manila, 5 provinces
on Thursday
CLASSES at all levels, including post-graduate, in Metro Manila and five nearby provinces will be suspended on Thursday because of typhoon Milenyo (international codename: Xangsane), Malacañang announced late Wednesday afternoon.
The provinces where there will be no classes are Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna and Bulacan.
In a television interview, Education Secretary Jesli Lapus said classes might also be suspended on Friday depending on the weather conditions.
The Office of Civil Defense said Milenyo, which blew through the Visayas and Bicol regions Wednesday, had left some 3,400 passengers stranded in various seaports.
